About Screensafe Pty Ltd
An interesting career began for Murray Collins from a desire to help his son Ian. Ian had a business making security doors and windows, but found the component parts were too expensive for him to compete with the opposition. So Murray began by importing stainless steel mesh 7 years ago and storing it in a self-storage unit. He acquired another couple of customers, and very soon had to move to larger premises.
Murray and Ian both soon realised that it was necessary to import aluminium framing as well, in order to have all the components of doors and windows. They called the business Screensafe, and it grew rapidly necessitating 6 moves to bigger premises in 7 years.
Murray, who had a background in engineering design, designed his own system of framing to suit WA and Australian conditions, in order not to infringe the copyright of existing suppliers. His designs are now patented and everything complies with Australian safety standards. Their stainless steel mesh is of the highest quality 316 marine grade, 0.9 mm diameter.
